What is the whipper snappers blog?
As per Google, the term whipper snapper is generally used by older people to insult the younger generation(s) for their lack of experience and cockiness.
At Byye, it’s become a tongue-in-cheek expression used to acknowledge our emerging group of young employees, interns, and snapchatters, who have no idea what ColecoVision was, how bad comic book movies used to be, what New Coke tasted like, or just how encapsulating John Hughes’ movies truly were. And yes, just in case you were wondering, I had to Google almost everything on the list. Almost everything!
While the word may conjure up some negative connotations, we’ve decided to embrace the idea of the whipper snapper! Therefore, this blog will serve to capture our experiences as young, up-and-coming, twenty-somethings trying to make their mark on the world!
As you can expect with 3 young-ins living and working in the heart of #yyc, some shenanigans (and adult beverages) will ensue. However, it is our hope that we provide an injection of youth, vigor, and perspective on what it’s like to be living in Calgary at 21, 22, and 26 in 2014.
It is our goal to inspire other employees to want to contribute to our blog and provide their perspective on a variety of topics, from what their favourite bar on 17th Avenue is to what it’s like to work at Byye to what was the last meal they Instagrammed!
